For some, winters mean cuddling up in a blanket and sitting on a couch. They go on slumbers for long and given a chance would happily hibernate. Not for me though. I feel winters are time for some rigorous exercises and highly active sports as you don’t have to keep wiping off the sweat. Skiing is one winter sport you should not miss. You can go with your family and friends and have tons of fun. Or if you are really good at it, go ahead and compete. What can be better than the joy of winning? Skiing however needs a lot of equipments. You must have all of them as per required standards otherwise it might put you into risk. Here is a list of items that you need to have before you go down the slope.

The basic and most important items are the skis and poles. Make sure that you are comfortable in them or ask someone knowledgeable to choose for you. You must pick a good ski lock. Ski boots will protect your feet from snow and wind. You must wear ski goggles to protect your eyes from the fast and chilling wind.

Now let us start with the clothing items. You need to pack thermal inners. They are warm and light weight. Heavy sweaters will be your saviours in the snow covered area. Turtle necks do a perfect job to keep your neck and torso warm. You may pack a mens coat for winter to wear when you are not skiing. While skiing you will need to wear waterproof ski jacket. For lowers you need waterproof ski pants. Choose pants made of tightly woven nylon, polyester or thinsulate. You must be wearing waterproof socks while skiing, go for wool-blend socks that wick away moisture to keep feet dry and warm. Gloves or mittens are something that you cannot ski without.

Along with clothing there are equipments that you will need during a skiing trip. Pack an alarm clock to wake you up in the right time. Camera, you will surely be happy to capture the moments. Do not forget your electronic chargers. We often pack the gadget but forget the charger. Hair dryer will not go unused. Carry antibacterial wipes. You should carry them on any trip by the way. Body lotion, deodorant, face cleanser, comb and brush will be needed unless your hotel is providing them. Do not forget to carry at least one all-purpose sunscreen with SPF 15.

Pack a first aid kit. It should contain gas-relief tablets, antacid, ant diarrheal medicine, anti-asthamine for allergies, bandages, candied ginger for motion sickness, mild laxative, non=aspirin pain reliever and thermometer, in a hard case. Also carry your relevant prescriptions, just in case there is an emergency.

Do not forget to note down the addresses of friends and relatives for postcards. Carry some healthy snacks like dried fruits and nuts. Map, directions and a compass may come handy during the trip.
